The Top 10 Things to do if you’ve been charged with DWI

  1. Don't say anything, keep your mouth shut;
  2. Don't provide a written statement;
  3. Always be polite to the arresting officer;
  4. After the arrest, don't talk to the prosecutor;
  5. Write down thorough details of what happened ASAP ;
  6. Don't drive after your license has been suspended;
  7. Be polite to Court staff, they'll tell the Judge if you're rude to them;
  8. Don't get in trouble while the DWI charge is being resolved;
  9. Take pictures of the site where you were arrested, if safe to do so, ASAP; and
  10. Meet with an attorney immediately after the arrest.
